The Sims Goes Hollywood

The SimsThe latest video game that will be debuting as a movie is “The Sims.” Movie rights have been sold by Electronic Arts to 20th Century Fox. The game has sold almost 85 million copies since its inception in 2000.

“The Sims has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it’s like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it,” Rod Humble, head of EA’s Sims Studio said.

We were wondering just how this “virtual doll house” could translate in Tinseltown but considering the popularity of such films as Tomb Raider, perhaps it is not such a far stretch of the imagination after all. No target date has been set for the premiere.
